Hi, I'm Ms. Purcell!
This is my third year at Hawthorn, and I am thrilled to be working with you this year! I attended the University of Dayton to study special education and psychology. While in college, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and had the opportunity to teach in a school in the main city. In the summer of 2018, I taught and wrote curriculum for a non-profit organization in Malawi, Africa.
In my freetime, I really enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, walking my dog Zamboni, baking, and reading. I try to stay active as much as possible, which includes hiking, yoga, and running along the Lake Front in Chicago. And when I'm not doing any of these things, I'm probably eating! I love trying new foods and restaurants, particularly anywhere that has pizza, pasta or sushi. I have a competitive side when it comes to sports. I love to cheer on the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks, even when they aren't doing the best (which seems like it is all too often these days).
